“Secrets of Book Publishing” Panel Workshop @ the L.A. Press Club this Friday Night!

This special event will be moderated by author and writing teacher, Susan Shapiro.

Hollywood, CA. The Los Angeles Press Club is hosting another great panel discussion this Friday night. Co-sponsored by PR Newswire, the “Secrets of Book Publishing” panel will be moderated by Manhattan-based author and writing teacher Susan Shapiro, who just published "Speed Shrinking”—and who’s probably helped more aspiring journalists and authors sell their work than any agent out there.

WHO – Susan Shapiro, author and writing teacher; Annie Gilbar, L.A. Times magazine editor; Betty Amster, Los Angeles agent and former book editor, then editorial director of Globe-Pequot Press; Ryan Fischer-Harbage, New York agent; and Amy Alkon, syndicated advice columnist, blogger, and author of the upcoming book, I See Rude People: One woman's battle to beat some manners into impolite society (Nov. 27, 2009, McGraw-Hill).

WHAT – Press Club Panel on the “Secrets of Book Publishing”

WHEN – Friday, August 21, 2009; 6 p.m. – Networking, Drinks & Sushi; 7 p.m. – Program Begins

WHERE – Los Angeles Press Club @ 4773 Hollywood Blvd. (2 blocks west of Vermont) in the Hollywood, Los Feliz neighborhood; the program will be upstairs. Parking is free behind the building as well as on the street.

WHY – Sue and her panel will cover all the bases, from how to make your work publishable to how to actually get it published, taking into account what is and isn't selling in this economy, and all the new challenges of journalism and the book business.

FYI – Sue usually charges a lot of money for her courses but this special Press Club event is FREE to members and only $10 to non-members who pay in advance and $20 at the door. RSVP by clicking here. Complimentary beer, wine and sushi.
